Public Servant

I am proud to announce my candidacy for Fulton County Superior Court Clerk.  As a Member of the Atlanta City Council and 3-term former state lawmaker, public service has been one of the greatest experiences of my life.  I was given the tremendous opportunity to work closely with the brightest leaders around the state of Georgia.   Working in tandem taught me invaluable lessons that have both stretched and contributed to my personal and professional growth.  Therefore, it is my belief my faith and work at City Hall and under the Golden Dome, that has uniquely prepared me to successfully navigate the role and responsibility of serving as the Clerk of Superior Court.

Today marks a significant milestone as I announce my departure from the Atlanta City Council, driven by the constraints of existing Georgia state law which necessitates my vacating the post-3 seat to pursue higher office.  After much prayer and reflection with my family, I have made the decision to expand our collective efforts and embark on a new journey.  While this decision was not made lightly, I am filled with excitement and optimism for what the future holds.

Together, we have achieved remarkable milestones, and I am immensely proud of the work we have accomplished together:

1. We joined forces to establish a citywide Public Safety Taskforce, prioritizing the safety and well-being of our community.

2. Through collaborative efforts, Miriam's Law was successfully enacted, ensuring the safety of our neighborhoods by removing the most dangerous offenders from our streets.

3. In response to tragic events, such as the loss of Zion and Cameron, we swiftly implemented measures to enhance public safety, including the adoption of a citywide curfew.

4. Recognizing the need for enhanced security at gas stations, we advocated for legislation urging the installation of commercial-grade cameras and additional lighting.

5. Upholding the principles of democracy, we supported initiatives such as the Public Safety Annex referendum vote, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to civic engagement.

6. We embraced initiatives to beautify our city and uplift our communities, including the implementation of the Keep Atlanta Beautiful Campaign.

7. In addressing public safety concerns, Erica's Law was enacted to strengthen penalties for reckless and dangerous driving, ensuring the safety of all residents.

8. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to Councilmember Michael Bond for his mentorship and the opportunity to contribute to initiatives such as the Hello Fresh Initiative, which has provided essential support to thousands of families in need.

9. Collaborative efforts with my esteemed colleagues, including Councilmember Jason Dozier, have led to meaningful policy changes aimed at improving pedestrian safety and protecting our most vulnerable residents.

Additionally, I am proud to recognize the inaugural Thanksgiving Day dinner held at City Hall in 2023, under the leadership of the Post 3 office, spearheaded by Councilmember Keisha Waites. This event served as a testament to our commitment to fostering unity and gratitude within our community. As I reflect on the impact of our collective efforts, I am filled with pride knowing that our city is safer and better positioned for future opportunities, including the upcoming FIFA World Cup and continued leadership in the Film and Entertainment Industry.

To every Atlantan, I extend my deepest gratitude for entrusting me with the responsibility to represent our vibrant and diverse community. Your unwavering support has been a source of strength and encouragement throughout my tenure.  To my dedicated team, the Post-3 Staff, I am endlessly grateful for your dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment to our shared vision. Each of you has played an integral role in our success, and I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to serve alongside such dedicated individuals.

To my esteemed colleagues, it has been an honor and a privilege to work alongside each of you. Whether we found common ground or respectfully disagreed, I have the utmost respect for your dedication and contributions to our city.  As I embark on this new chapter, I am filled with hope and optimism for the future.

To my family and extended family, your love and support have been my greatest blessings, and I am profoundly grateful for each of you. In closing, I look forward to the continued journey ahead, and I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for our beloved city.

Together, let us continue to work tirelessly to build a brighter and more prosperous future for all. Throughout my tenure, I have ensured that the Post 3 At-Large office at Atlanta City Council was staffed with highly competent and responsive individuals who were committed to serving you, the constituents, with excellence.

As I transition from my role, I am confident in the capabilities of the team I leave behind. They are fully prepared to ensure a seamless transition, allowing the business of the city to continue without interruption.  I extend my heartfelt appreciation to my team for their dedication and hard work, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have served you. Rest assured that the legacy of service we leave behind will continue to benefit our community for years to come.

With heartfelt gratitude and appreciation, thank you
